Hockey Camp

Metropolitan Baptist Church was the first church to bring a 5 day HMI Christian Hockey camp to Fargo in 2007. Hockey Ministries International does over 30 camps each summer around the world for boys and girls ages 9-17 using former and current pros from the NHL and University levels as on-ice coaches.

The camp has relocated to Fergus Falls, MN from Fargo, ND. The 2024 Camp will be held June 24th-28th at Hillcrest Academy, and is open to boys and girls between the ages of 9-17.  It is an amazing week for a hockey player of any level.  Christian Hockey Camp programs are designed to prepare hockey players for challenges, both on and off the ice.  Campers will receive excellent instruction from some of the games best players and coaches during the week.  Each camper will also experience a variety of interactive off-ice activities including dryland training, sports, games, and interactive training in Christian living.

Join other hockey players for an unforgettable week!

Caring Hearts Jail Ministry

Lay led by John F. Buegel, this ministry no longer visits inmates in local jails, but rather, over the last twenty years has evolved into a correspondence ministry that reaches into jails and prisons in all 50 states; by writing letters of Christian encouragement, and providing gospel tracts, Bibles and Bible Studies to inmates and their families.

This ministry is ably assisted by many within our Metropolitan Baptist Church family (and other churches), who give of their time to personally share the salvation we have in Christ Jesus with the lost who are imprisoned, as our Lord encourages us in the 25th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: …I was in prison and you came to Me." Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,… "Lord, when did we see you in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." (emphasis on prisons taken from Matthew 25:34-40, NKJV)

Evangelism Training

Our main training program is Ray Comfort’s approach to those who need the Lord by sharing our inability to live by God’s standard (10 Commandments) before we tell of the Good News in Jesus Christ.

“Share Jesus Without Fear” is also offered periodically, where sharing is made easy through 5 questions and 7 verses as well as Mark Cahill’s material developed around Mark’s first book “One Thing You Can’t Do In Heaven”. Click here for “The Way of the Master” website.

Date Night

The Outreach Board has decided to promote two date nights per year, as fun and informative times for couples to spend time with other couples. This is a perfect night to bring neighbors, friends and family that need to hear the gospel.

Themes will range from clean comedy, parenting, marriage, evangelism, or witnessing. These take the place of seminars or conferences, and wrap it up in a two-hour package of a catered supper, games or table interaction and an enlightening video.

Holiday Food for Families

From our former Angel Food ministry, it came to our attention in 2011 that many community people we knew were low income and on Food Stamps. This sparked the idea that they could probably use a nice food basket at Christmas time. Wanting to bless them, HFFF was born!

The uniqueness of this ministry stems from the fact that most of our congregation gets involved by signing up to donate a turkey, vegetables, pies or all of the above, for a needy family during November. Early in December we gather in the gym to pack and deliver    25 – 30 of these food baskets to very appreciative families.

Meal Train

This mostly in-house meal delivery system is for families that could use some meals due to hospitalization, illness, or for any other reason that may arise.

When a “situation” presents itself, a coordinator is notified so invites can be sent out, to ladies on a predetermined list, to participate.

They are directed to a website, with a calendar of nights to be filled, with information on address, likes, dislikes, allergies and any further instructions. This ministry can also be used for family, friends and neighbors who need to see the love of Christ in us.
